What should I talk about?

Why not let them know that they have gone to far with their lobbying efforts and that you are fighting back. Tell them you wont be buying new HD-DVD and Blu-Ray players that come crippled by DRM. You could also tell them that you don't appreciate being called a criminal every time you go to a movie in the theaters. Tell them that DRM is an unacceptable invasion into your technology and privacy. Also, it seems like the perfect time to ask some of these awkward questions prepared by EFF.

The Analog Hole

Recently the MPAA has been calling on legislators and hardware manufacturers to plug "the analog hole". The legislation they are pushing would drastically change the way we experience entertainment in our homes and errode rights we currently possess.

HD DVD and Blu-ray

HD DVD and Blu-ray are two new competing digital video disk formats meant to replace DVD. Both technologies accommodate greater data storage, but also require new hardware. The hardware and the data format don't only store more, they also allow for some of the worst DRM we've seen so far. The Blu-ray format showcases the worst of DRM, not only protecting the discs from copying through encryption but also allows for remote disabling of all players if the encryption is cracked anywhere in the world! Both Blue-Ray and HD DVD are anti-user and Defective By Design because of the DRM schemes that limit our digital freedoms.
